Campaign Statement

Given that Lebanon has been subjected to Israeli attacks on its sovereignty, occupation and war crimes, and is thus a crucial point of reference for regional and international boycott and solidarity campaigns aimed at forcing Israel to comply with international law,

Given that international law and UN resolutions have until now failed to force Israel to end its oppression and colonization of Palestine,

Given that the international community has failed to end Israel’s half a century of wars, occupation, invasions, and political designs on its regional neighbors, and

Whereas Western political, military, and economic support of Israel has allowed it to continue to implement its rapacious designs and racist policies,

The Lebanese Campaign to End Israeli Apartheid (L-CEIA) aims to work to end Israeli apartheid, to force Israel to modify its behavior, and to bring it to account, as well as to curb its unconditional political, military, and economic support from Western powers. As a Lebanese organization L-CEIA seeks to improve the conditions and laws affecting Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the region and insists on the implementation of UN Resolution 194 which recognizes the Palestinians’ inalienable right of return to their homeland.

L-CIEA’s campaign and others like it are the only remaining civil means to reach a just resolution for Palestinians and Lebanese. As such, L-CEIA is calling for a boycott and information campaign targeting Israeli institutions and their supporters, all of whom are either active or complicit in Israel’s apartheid and expansionist policies. Accordingly, L-CEIA, in solidarity with the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), calls upon people in the region and the international community, including conscientious Israelis, to support this call and work towards achieving its overarching objectives through the following specific actions:

* Collect factual information and engage in activities that will raise awareness about Israeli war crimes and policies, especially how Israeli institutions and their supporters are complicit in these policies, as well as contributing to rigorous scholarship on Israeli colonialism from within diverse academic disciplines

* Press for the implementation of UN resolutions and international laws concerning Israeli occupation and Palestinian right of return

* Work for Lebanese ratification of the International Criminal Court in order to allow it to prosecute Israelis for war crimes committed in Lebanon and Palestine

* Lobby the Lebanese government to improve the laws affecting Palestinians living in Lebanon

* Advocate a comprehensive boycott of Israeli institutions at the national and international levels, including suspension of all forms of funding and subsidies to Israeli institutions

* Refrain from participation in any form of academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation with Israeli institutions

* Promote divestment from international corporations that are active supporters of the Israeli Zionist system

* Participate in and campaign for the economic boycott of goods produced in Israel and by companies that support Zionism

* Support the academic, economic, and cultural activities of Palestinian and Lebanese institutions and scholars through grants and research collaboration to promote the above objectives

* Press for resolutions to be adopted by academic, professional, and cultural associations and organizations that will have an impact in changing Israel’s apartheid policies and its behavior.
